Austin log 2023.03.28/29 History, Falls, Bluebonnets and Pickleball

Colors: Red, White and Blue for the Texas flag, Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes

Song: Texas Sun (Leon Bridges)

Weather: Overcast with a high of 70

Tuesday we had a slow morning and didn't make it out until midday when we ventured out to the Texas History museum.  I only got one photo đŸ˜† . Lots to learn about Texas, most of which involved: oil, freedom, and fighting Mexico.

Wednesday we were up and at it early.  Today's hike was at McKinney Falls State Park. Falls in Texas are about 3 - 5 feet, so not the biggest falls we've ever seen but the landscape is still beautiful.
We found a water snake.  Luckily for the snake we were about 20 feet away so we couldn't disturb its sunbathing.
Lower Falls

Lower falls from the swimming hole beach.  After seeing the snake we weren't too sure about swimming in this swimming hole!
On to the Bouldering area.

These spiders were EVERYWHERE on the Bouldering wall.  Giovanna decided her love of climbing was not greater than her fear of spiders, so we moved on.

They have great climbing trees in Austin.

Making our way to the Upper Falls.
See statement above (Falls = 3-5 feet)

The Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes are EVERYWHERE. I couldn't resist a field of them for a photo opportunity.

Last stop of they day a Biergarten with a pickle ball court.
Dragon Fruit for the hot and tired.
